Dear Parents

This week has seen the weather take a turn for the worst – lots of stories of trampolines ending up in their neighbours property!

Yesterday students in Akomanga Mana attended mass to celebrate Father Harrison’s 50th Jubilee, since being ordained as a priest. As a school, we would like to acknowledge the ongoing contribution he has made to our community. The guidance he has provided to us all about following God’s call is exceptional.

When he was ordained Isiah 6:8 was read:
8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
This verse is a challenge for all to be responsive to the call of God for each of us – are we prepared to be the best we can be in each of our chosen fields?

Feast of Sacred Heart – We will be celebrate this day on Thursday 23rd June, beginning with mass at 9.30am in the church. Families are warmly invited to join us.

The Catholic review team will be joining us on the 29-30 June. During this time they have requested to meet with a group of parents. If you would like to be part of this, please contact me: principal@shsinv.school.nz

We have a few parents who have not yet produced a preference/non preference form for their child. If this is you, please make an appointment with Fr. Tony 2157315 to get this done asap. It is only a 10 minute appointment, and needs to be sorted before our catholic review later in the month.

The Board of Trustee elections are coming up in September. If you think you would like to be a part of this group, or want to know more about the roll, please contact me. Nominations close July 18th.

The repair of the windows and far wall in B block has now been completed. Special thanks to Clint and his team from Donaldson Construction for all of their hard work in completing this job. Yesterday the concrete pads for the installation of heat pumps in the library and Mana took place, the team from Refrigeration Supplies will be installing these soon.

Next Wednesday night, 22nd June, the Friends of the School are hosting a Movie night, starting at 6.30pm in the Forde Atrium.
There will be popcorn, drinks and lollies available for purchase. More details to come.

Friday marks a milestone for our nation as we celebrate the first Matariki holiday. Matariki marks the start of the Māori New Year. Signified by the Matariki cluster of stars reappearing in our night sky, this is a time to reflect on the past year, celebrate the present, and plan for the year ahead.

Thank you to the families who have paid their activity fee. Can we have these settled by the end of the term please. Part payments are welcomed.
Our bank details are: Sacred Heart School 031746 0042033 00. Please contact Christine if you require a receipt.

Scholastic Bookclub – Issue 4 closes Wednesday 22nd June.
