Dear Parents

Kia ora whanau,

A very warm welcome back to term 3. I hope you all have a great break with you children and that you enjoyed some quality family time together.
This term we welcome Violet Mansell, Kyrus and Kylar Velez into Akomanga Aroha and also Vanessa Wilmshurst who will also be working as a Teacher Aide in Akomanga Aroha.  We hope that you all enjoy your time at Sacred Heart.

During term 3 the children are expected to be wearing full winter uniform. If your child is not in correct uniform, a note to the class teacher is required.

All the best to Nadia Hutton who will represent Sacred Heart School at the NZCAF Aerobic’s festival at Stadium Southland on Saturday morning, and also performing her jazz routine at the danceNZmade competition on Monday night.

Week 1 26th – 30th July
26th Sts Joachim and Anne – Jesus Grandparents
29th St Martha

America was the first country in the world to celebrate Grandparents day. They celebrate on the 9th of September. The UK celebrates grandparent in October here in New Zealand we do not celebrate grandparent’s day. The Feast of Joachim and Anne, Jesus’s grandparents, gives us a great opportunity to thank them for giving us Mary and a great day to think of our own grandparents too. It is nice to think of Jesus as have a grandma(sava)and grandad(sav).

Congratulations to Kellen Lau, our Charism winner today, and the children who received certificates.

Akomanga Mana Class Happenings
At the end of last term the whole school participated in STEM activities. They were based around different countries monuments. We made the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Newspaper Towers similar to the Eiffel Tower, Pyramids of Giza and Catapults.
